Welcome!
My name is Julie and I have an addiction...to cookbooks. Specifically, vintage cookbooks. The trouble is, I treat them as strictly reading material and not the portal to new worlds they actually are. It's time for that to change. I've made the decision to visit those worlds for better or worse, food poisoning or glowing health, 'til antacids do us part, and I hope you'll join me on the adventure.
There are some ground rules for this expedition:
No nuts (other than cashews and those lovely legumes, peanuts). I have a tree nut allergy and I will not die on this rock.
No bananas. Ditto above for the deathly allergy thing.
I reserve the right to substitute ingredients based on cost and availability while striving to keep the spirit of the original recipe intact.
Vintage shall be defined as dawn of time to pre-1980, but allowances will be made for really-need-to-try-that items dating 1980 or later.
Disasters will be duly documented and shared. Sometimes we need to laugh while we cry.
